JUNCTION 5 SLIPS  For over 30 years the people of Borough Green had campaigned for a Bypass to take A25 traffic out of the village. In 2007 H+H Celcon agreed to build the Bypass as part of their plan to build a second Block Factory. The Application went to a Planning Inquiry that pitted Borough Green and Platt against Wrotham and Ightham. When the Bypass failed, the Parishes decided to work together to find another solution.

That solution would use the M26 as our Bypass by connecting the A21 road from the South Coast to the M26 at Sevenoaks, providing  traffic relief for a huge swathe of West Kent, from Lamberhurst to Westerham, and to West Malling. The main beneficiaries would be the villages of Platt, Borough Green, Wrotham, Seal, Bat and Ball, Riverhead, Brasted and Westerham.

THE NEXT STEP Cllr Tim Shaw from Borough Green took this campaign on, and over the years has escalated it to the point it now sits on desks at Westminster, and whilst all the Parishes, TMBC, KCC, KALC and our MP Tom Tigendhat all support it, it always scores poorly for funding.

But with the demise of HS2, and Rishi Sunak's pledge to spend on roads, this may well now have a chance in the third round of the Road Investment Scheme, and so Tim will be reactivating the campaign with a run for Parliament.

AIR QUALITY - THE INVISIBLE KILLER

The biggest problem for all the villages on the A25, and in the wider area, is Air Quality, with traffic pollution slowly killing us all. The map below shows the Borough Green AQMA, the AQMA page shows the AQMA maps for all our fellow suffering villages. BOROUGH GREEN AQ REPORT
